Confuzzled Story #12 This Apple Speaks To Me

This Apple Speaks to Me!
by Shannon McGee

I sit upon this apple feeling it’s true thoughts.
It wishes to be eaten and nourished through a body.
But as for me you see I can’t not grant it’s wish
For I am a confuzzled fae and no mouth on me exists.

Thoughts of this apple I can hear so loud.
I am dying it says quickly.
But if only I could be eaten and granted my last wish.
For then I would be become something else
My true purpose and nothing would be amiss.

Confuzzled Story #10 Letter Goodbye (Death of A Mermaid Pt. 4)

Once every other week I write a little story from my Confuzzling fantasy world.   This idea came from the drawing of the faeries you see above in the heading and writing prompts from Writer's Digest.com.

Confuzzled Story #10 Letter Goodbye (Death of A Mermaid Pt. 4)
by
Shannon McGee

Rabbit stared at her mermaid friend.

“How do you know you're not dead?” asked Lanna, “Would Caran be doing this if you weren’t?”

Lanna shifting her hands over the pool of water in front of her and a image appeared of Rabbit elven brother Caran who was with Rabbit when she found Lanna dead.  But what was he doing?  He looked like he was writing a letter.

Then suddenly his thoughts turned to sound as he “My therapist said write a letter to you now that you are gone to help me cope. There are so many things I felt left unsaid so many things I feel at fault for and not telling you I was sorry.  You remember the time paint was spilled in mom’s tree all over the walls and the floor.  I had said you had done it but we were young and you younger but I was to scared to admit that It was me afraid .  I was afraid mom would hate me.  I  don’t know why I thought it would be better for her to hate you.  That thought didn’t cross my mind until now.  I eventually came clean and said it was me after I couldn’t take her screaming at you and making you cry.  I am sorry Rabbit.  If I could take that back I would. I made mom believe it was her fault and didn’t talk to her for months or maybe just weeks it was a long time though.   Now I can’t say I am sorry.  Would it even matter or fix that rift I caused with you two ever since.  All my fault and now you are gone.  Is it all my fault your are gone to?...” Caran went on in his letter but nothing more needed to be heard.  She remembered the time her was talking about an knew now that he hadn’t meant to hurt her .

“ I am not dead!” she shouted to Lanna maybe too loudly.
“He just said I was gone. He knows I went on a trip to find out what is wrong with our Confuzzling World and what killed you?”

“Oh Really?!” Lanna said playfully “ Do you remember telling him this?”

Rabbit tired but couldn’t remember much from even yesterday come to think about it.
What did this all mean? Rabbit thought.

Confuzzled Stories #9 - My True Mother ( A Young Dragon's Tale Pt.1)

Once every other week I write a little story from my Confuzzling fantasy world.   This idea came from the drawing of the faeries you see above in the heading and writing prompts from Writer's Digest.com.

 Confuzzled Stories #9

My True Mother (Tale of Young Dragon Part 1)

“Oh Deary Me! Rebekkah the genie lamp is ringing! Can you answer it? It Mother’s Day after all I shouldn’t strain myself.” Said Goldie Locke .

“Yes mother I will get it you just relax and watch Survival of the Fittest and then I will bring out the cake!” Rebekkah said anxiously

She picked up the phone and answered “Hello? Lockes Cave...”

“Stop celebrating with her Rebekkah that is not your real mother!!!”  Said the dainty voice similar to Rebekkah’s.

“Hello??  I am sorry I think you have the wrong cave?” Rebekkah said shaking obviously disturbed.

“No! Please don’t hang up!!..” said the voice kindly as possible. “I have been trying and trying to find a way to tell you my sweet child.  That beast Goldie stole you as an egg from me and took you to the Locke’s cave.  You are not a Locke Rebekkah you a Hearth....My name Jabbie Hearth. I am your mother.” she said tearfully, “ I just  couldn’t take another Mother’s Day without you.  Haven’t you ever noticed you don’t resemble the Locke’s?”

Rebekkah drew a long breath inward and began to look nervously around the room.  This can’t be true she thought. Tears began to weld in her eyes.

“Rebekkah Deary who is it?  Who has upset my daughter?”  asked the crackly fiery voice of Goldie Lock.   She took the phone from her visibly upset dragon child.

“Who isss thiss ?!” said Goldie in her most ferrous tone.

Sobbing on the other end was Jabbie, “I finally found you Goldie and I told Rebekkah what you did and her father and I are coming for her.  So you better be ready for us! “

“ I don’t know what you taking about!  Don’t call this cave again or there will be trouble! “ said Mrs. Locke

Goldie slammed the the genie lamp against the cave wall in anger. A small voice from inside could be heard saying “Ouch!”   Goldie turn to Rebekkah to comfort the child but it was too late Rebekkah had run from the cave in tears.   Goldie called and searched for her in fear of losing the young thing.

Rebekkah hid near the fullest bushes by the watering hole and cried knowing what the caller had said was true but was to upset to even comprehend what to do about.

Then floating above her head she hear a whisper “ Why are you crying little dragon?”  asked the small Confuzzled Fae with a star head band and Faery wand.

Rebekkah just waved the thoughts of the Faery away and cried some more.

Confuzzled Stories #6 Cirque de What? (Death of a Mermaid Part 3)

Confuzzled Stories #6 - Cirque de What?

I had been running.  Running away from an old friend and running away to what could have been my death.   I must have fallen because my face was in the mudd.   I looked up to see a dwarf with a heavy beard standing above me with a bucket of water.   Also above my head was a red tent... a circus tent?

First I was kidnapped, now I was in a circus that seemed to have a audience waiting for...?  “You okay?” the dwarf said.

I mumbled something that was suppose to be “I am fine.”  while trying to figure out if I was.

I get up and shake my head yes.  He splashes the bucket in my face to wash the mud off ...I think. I look down and notice that I have a yellow and blue clown suit on and on my head is a red fluffy wig.  What the heck is going on? I thought.  Am I losing my mind?

Just as that thought comes to mind.  I blink and open my eyes as the world swirls around me.

Again I am splashed in the face with water.  I sputter, waving my hand in front of my face and shout “Quit it!”   Blocking my face as more splashes come.

“Come on ‘Santa’s Little Helper’ get in the water.” said a familiar voice.

I furrowed my brow and said , out of habit, “ Stop calling me that you over grown fish.” I opened my eyes and gaped.  I know that voice I thought it’s Lanna.

I stared at her breathing erratically not believing my eyes. It was my best friend who was dead. How can this be?

“Lanna your dead...?!” I said biting my lips holding back tears.

Lanna swims backwards in the lake looking at me as if nothing was wrong.

She laughed, and bobbed at the surface, then she said, “You sure?” she giggled some more.  “Maybe your dead? or maybe we both are?”

Confuzzled Stories #5 - Coo Coo Cannibal

Coo Coo Cannibals

by S.M. McGee

I had been traveling for days.   I was tired, achy and hungry.  I was so close to my destination and I wanted to keep going but I finally gave in and sat on the nearest rock.  I was in a forest close to the center of our world.  I had been following a magical trail that was leading me to the reason of the most recent earth quake and answers to questions I had regarding the death of my mermaid friend, Lanna.

I pulled out some water from my pack and contemplated how much farther I had to go.  I pulled out my magic compass and said, “Lead me to my destination.” The arrow on the compass spun a couple times and then pointed straight ahead.
It was starting to get dark so I decided this was a good enough spot to camp for the night.  I pulled out my universal door knob found the widest tree put the knob in the wood and knocked.  A door appeared and I entered a fully furnished elven house. I sighed and relaxed on to the couch, “Home Sweet Hubble”.

I must have fallen asleep because when I woke up it was pitch dark and my nose was itchy.  I went to scratch it and realized my hands were tied together.  I started to panic and tried to get my bearings.  Normally elves have great night vision but this “darkness”  wasn’t the same it was magical darkness.  I tried to decide whether calling out would help me or hurt me.
I thought out my choices, I could try calling on fae who have magical light that brakes through magical darkness but the fae usually cause more trouble then help,  I also could teleport a few feet  ahead which would mean I would no longer be tied but I don’t know where I would be or if I could see and lastly I could just scream my head off and see if someone comes.

Before I made my decision I hear a female voice say in old German, “tarchanjan” and the darkness rippled away.  In front of me was an elf with dreadlocks, wild hungry eyes tinted with redness.  I squinted trying to make sense of what I was seeing.   If my eyes were correct I was looking at my fellow elven college roommate, Tawny.

Four years ago Tawny had disappeared under questionable circumstances.  She had been studying a tribe for her thesis.  It was an ancient elven tribe known to be cannibals.  Each week she went to watch the tribe secretly and collect info.  Every week her stake outs became longer and longer.   Eventually she never returned it was assumed that she was consumed for dinner.

I did not like the way Tawny was looking at me.   I tried to spark up a conversation “Tawny?  Hey, it’s Rabbit!  You remember me right?”
At my name, Tawny, laughed at my name and repeated it,”Rabbit...tasty” She giggled
“What!?” I freaked “No Rabbit not tasty.  Rabbit friend!”
I started to struggle against my roped  limbs trying to loosing them.  Then I heard someone coming.

Walking towards us was the largest elf I had ever seen “Tawny.”  he said.
Tawny turned around and smiled sweetly, she walked toward giant elf and and reached up to kiss him.  As she did this I realized what had become of Tawny.  She literally fell in love with her work even .. the cannibalism...eww.

I assumed I was dinner and since I didn’t want that I spoke up.
“Alright I have seen enough!”  I said “Tawny you should really tell your parents your okay.”
She looked at me like she had no idea what I was saying.
I looked past the two cannibals elves into the trees and plants.  Once I had a good area I closed my eyes and pictured that spot in my mind and envisioned me there.   In a few seconds I was.  I turned to look back at my old friend/ roommate and ran for the closest magical safe haven I knew was in the area.  How did I know?  My heart told me so....well sort of.

Confuzzled Stories #3 - Dragon Love

“Don’t say yes!” was spelled out on a dry erase board that dropped in front of Tigo while he stood at the alter with his dragon bride-to-be. A confuzzled fey named Web was holding the board.  She sprinkled pixie dust over the board and the words changed. “You have been bewitched, my love.”

Misa, his dragon bride turned to Tigo with eyes so bright. She said,  “Tigo, what is the meaning of this?”

“I don’t know.”

Again the board changed:”Misa is the witch of Bangles. This wedding is a mirage.”

Misa glared at the fey, then turned to Tigo. “That is not true, my sweets.”

“IT IS TRUE!” was written largely across the fey’s board. “She wants only your faery gold, so she can wish for what she wants.”

Tigo laughed a little, “That is ridiculous. Faery dragons can’t wish on the faery gold because we made it.”  He was still smiling as he turned to Misa. But the smile faltered when Togi saw Misa’s image flicker and change into Mona, the witch of Bangles.

Tigo looked around the whole area. The church filled with friends and family had disappeared. He shook his head, disoriented but coming out of the spell.

Mona turned to Web, with her eyes burning bright green. She mumbled something that sounded like a curse, then pointed at the confuzzled fey and screamed. “You ruined my plan! You speck of dust! I will watch your kind expire!”

A pile of leaves lifted off the ground and swirled around Mona. She disappeared and they floated away.

Web flew to Tigo who was sitting on a rock.

“I am sorry Web.  I don’t know what happened.” He held his head and looked lovingly at the fey in front of him.

She pulled the board out again and Tigo read, “No worries.  I know who you really love.” They hugged and sat, enjoying each other.
