Sketchy Saturday - Salem's Lot

I just finished reading Salem's Lot by Stephen King.  A good book with some creepy elements as per usual with King's books.   This as close to a scene I can get.  Little boy vampire in the window hoping to wake his friend to let him in.

Sketchy Saturday - Release The Demon

Today is Sketchy Saturday.  The day I draw some fan art of a scene in a book am reading or just finished.  Feel free to join in and leave links in the comments.

Todays sketch is called "Release The Demon", which is based off a scene in a short story by Kelly Armstrong called Lucifer's Daughter.  The story is featured in Blood Lite II.

Sketchy Saturday - Babe And Truman

Sketchy Saturday

On Sketchy saturdays I plan on drawing something inspired from a current book I may be reading.  Feel free to join in and share a link of your own work as well. :-)

Right now I am in the middle of The Swans Of Fifth Avenue by Melanie Benjamin.   It is historical fiction featuring people that truly existed and events that for the most part may have happen.  This piece of fan art I have drawn socialite Babe Paley with close friend and author Truman Capote.   This is actually a scene from the book as Truman lays his head in Babe’s lap just comforting and being their true selves with each other. This image  just stood out to me because there was so many feelings happening at once. It just rang true.

If you would like see more about The Swans Of Fifth Avenue check out Melanie Benjamin’s Official Site.

Whimsical Wednesday - Fan Art From The Stupidest Angel

ShanInTheStupidestAngel.gif

At the moment I am finishing The Stupidest Angel by Christopher Moore.  There is a character named Molly who I feel a kinship with being that she has schizophrenia...at least I believe that is her mental illness.  So the fan art this week is of me as Molly as her off medicated persona The Warrior Babe Of Outlander.

I am enjoying the book but a little surprised at how little the angel is mentioned. I was expecting more of him and more laughs.  This is the third book I have read by Christopher Moore and so far not my favorite. I have a few chapters to finished so maybe my mind will change.
