Shannon’s Thoughts:

This anthology has 4 stories about Amish families. Each story is a short piece from 4 different full books all about different Amish girls with surprising stories about faith and forgiveness.

Each story, although short, is enough to whet the appetite and leave you wanting to know how each woman’s story ends. I found all of these stories by Spredemann a little different than the typical Amish stories by other authors. There are more shocking revelations that keep the reader interested. My favorite was the final story, Cindy’s Story, which is an Amish retelling of Cinderella. I have read many fairy tale retellings and never thought of mashing it with Amish life.

The stories do end right at a point where you want to know more about what happens to the families. They feel like cliffhangers and they end well enough but the reader will want more.

I would absolutely read more by J.E.B. Spredemann. I enjoyed each story and am very interested in more Amish fairy tale retelling.
