Celebrate Everyday With Books - April 22nd 2020 - Earth Day

Celebrate Every Day With Books

It seems like everyday has some new theme to celebrate so I thought it might be fun to see what kind of interesting books I can find (new, old, or coming soon) for an everyday holiday. In fact, most days have more than one holiday!

TODAY

IS

WEDNESDAY

APRIL 22ND 2020

EARTH DAY

“TThe first Earth Day was held on April 22, 1970. Prior to this, there was virtually no environmental movement. Factories pumped toxins into the air, recycling was almost non-existent, and gas-guzzling vehicles were the norm. The seeds of the modern movement had been planted, however, with the publishing of Rachel Carson's Silent Spring in 1962. This book raised the public's awareness of pollution and its effect on health. READ MORE HERE” (from checkiday.com)

Just so you know I have not read most of these but the ones I pick seem the most interesting and would like to read. You can probably find tons more books for each holiday but I am only going to pick two books for one holiday a day.

Let me know what you think. Do any of them seem interesting to you? Is there another book you think would be a better choice?

You Are A Gift To The World/ The World Is A Gift To You by Laura Duskta

Title: You Are A Gift To The World/The World Is A Gift To You
Author: Laura Duskta
Genre: Childrens Book, Picture Book
Publisher: Sourcebooks Jabberwocky
Received: I do NOT own
Release Date: April 2011
Pages: 32
Rating:

What is it About?
This is a reversible book.   You can read the one side which is titled the You Are A Gift To The World and the other side is title The World Is A Gift To You.   The title pretty  much tells you the story of what it is about.

My Thoughts:
I thought this book is a wonderful reminder to children and all of us that we are special and the world is special to us.  Both stories are told as if a parent or a mentor is answering a child’s question.  Of course the answer should be universal

I enjoyed reading this reminder and both sides of the story.  I hoped for a the story to be a little longer.  So it may be short but it is sweet.   Recommended for children and those with low self esteem.
