Booking Through Thursday

If you’re anything like me, one of your favorite reasons to read is for the story. Not for the character development and interaction. Not because of the descriptive, emotive powers of the writer. Not because of deep, literary meaning hidden beneath layers of metaphor. (Even though those are all good things.) No … it’s because you want to know what happens next?
Or, um, is it just me?
Yes that is why I read. I am not one who thinks in metaphors or deep layers. Sometimes when talking with someone about it I will realize something about the book that is deep or thought provoking but not when I am reading. My husband, who sometimes write on this blog, gets into the deep layers and metaphors of the book.

I sometimes stop in the middle of reading to think about a "deep layer."

I like layers! Layers are my friends.

I usually have post-its handy and write down the page number when I encounter a deeper layer. Like you, I'll be aware of it but I'll muse on it later. :)

I like cover browsing too, but rarely do I find a good story that way, which is why I also go by title. I usually have better luck that way.
I am also not much of a metaphor/deep layers reader, unless I'm reading poetry - then I wish for the book to bring it on. But, in fiction I like a nice easy relaxing read, which I won't get a headache from for trying to figure out the twist or keep track of all the character what-not.

Thanks for the comment!

I enjoy all of the layers

I go for the stories, but having engaging characters are equally important too.

well, I like layers, but I also like reading for fun, so whenever it goes beyond fun...then I don't like the layers :) if I to think too much then that is not fun, it's work.
