Celebrate Everyday With Books - Presidents' Day

Celebrate Every Day With Books

It seems like everyday has some new theme to celebrate so I thought it might be fun to see what kind of interesting books I can find (new, old, or coming soon) for an everyday holiday. In fact, most days have more than one holiday!

TODAY

IS

MONDAY FEBRUARY 15TH 2021

PRESIDENTS’ DAY

“Presidents' Day is officially known as Washington's Birthday and is a holiday to honor the first president, George Washington, who was born on February 22, 1732. It is a federal holiday, as well as a state holiday in many states. In 1800, the year after Washington's death, the day became an unofficial day of remembrance.” (from checkiday.com)

Just so that you know I have not read most of these but the ones I pick seem the most interesting and would like to read. You can probably find tons more books for each holiday but I am only going to pick two books for one holiday a day.

Let me know what you think. Do any of them seem interesting to you? Is there another book you think would be a better choice?

Title: Abraham Lincoln’s Humor by John Grafton
Genre: Biography, Essays, History, U.S. Presidents
What It Is About?: “Today we think of Abraham Lincoln as America's greatest President. He's celebrated for his leadership and his numerous moving speeches, and for helping the nation through the dark time of the Civil War and out of slavery. Not as widely known as Lincoln's talent for humor and storytelling, and this collection shares many of his jokes and parables.
Lincoln used homespun whimsy effectively as a traveling lawyer and later as a tool that helped him negotiate policy, gain influence, and teach subtle moral lessons...” ( From Goodreads.com)

Title: The President Is Missing by Bill Clinton and James Patterson

What It Is About?: “...Set over the course of three days, The President Is Missing sheds a stunning light upon the inner workings and vulnerabilities of our nation. Filled with information that only a former Commander-in-Chief could know, this is the most authentic, terrifying novel to come along in many years.” (from Goodreads.com)
