What is it About?
A children historical fiction series this is part 2 in Virginia’s Civil War Diary. The family moves to Washington City near the end of the Civil War.

My Thoughts:

This second book was better then the first. It could be that there were more moments I could relate to like Virginia letting envy get into her heart because her family was poor and she worked for a rich family with children her age that got more than her. Yes I could relate to that.

While this book was pretty down for the most part it wasn’t down the whole time. It like life had it’s ups and downs where in the first book I didn’t see much ups at all.

Although this is a second book in Virginia’s books it can be read by it self. I can see
this one making a good book report for the kids.

What is it About?

A young girl named Virginia journals about the ongoing Civil War and her missing family.

My Thoughts:

This book was something that I didn’t feel attached to the characters as I do the ones I do in the Dear America series.  

To me the character Virginia never really changed throughout the story.  Maybe that is why the story is more then one part.   She seems to try and change but instead just whines through the book.

The way it was written did not seem to connect to me as a reader.  Yes the little girl is writing to amuse herself as her brother taught her but it should be a flowing story as well. I just do not feel that it did flow freely as it should.

In the end I just felt it was a generic version of the Dear America series.

This is Sci Fi which is a genre I am finding I like more then I thought I would. 

Women Food and God: An Unexpected Path to Almost Everything by Geneen Roth

So far I found most of this eye opening but I don't know if it is going to have a real effect on my eating habit. Something has got to give though.

The Professor Was a Thief (Stories from the Golden Age) by L Ron Hubbard

This is one of Hubbard's mystery's .  I haven't actually started just yet so I don't know how it is going to be I have never read anything by him.

WHAT I JUST FINISHED:

All the different My America and Dear America always seem so dark and end sadly.  This one isn't as sad because it is book one but still our history is so dark sometimes.

I read this once before when I was very young and hated it.  I don't remember any of it and I heard the vlogbrothers are reading it so I thought why not try it again now.
