Refer A Book Weekend 5/08/09!

Rules of Refer A Book Weekend: To play all you have to do is recommend a book that you liked and post in the comments. Tell me why you liked the book or link to your review. I will pick a recommendation, then add it to my TBR pile and the person who recommended the book will get to win a book from this Pile of Free Books that I reviewed.I usually post the Refer A Book Weekend post at 12pm EST after I am done work. Each week I will post a new post for you to comment in. The winner will not be picked until Monday so you have the weekend to recommend.

Hint: I Just finished reading Meeting Mr. Wrong and it was a funny memoir. I would like to read something else funny doesn't have to be a memoir.

Funny, eh? How about Austenland by Shannon Hale? http://ultimatebookhound.blogspot.com/2009/04/review-austenland-by-shannon-hale.html
Or the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan? http://ultimatebookhound.blogspot.com/2009/04/review-lightning-thief-by-rick-riordan.html
Or Unzipped by Lois Greiman? http://ultimatebookhound.blogspot.com/2009/04/review-unzipped-by-lois-greiman.html
All three are highly entertaining reads!

Austenland is a good one. But, I'm recommending Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner. This book made me laugh out loud several times. It's seems real in a funny sort of way. I reviewed a couple of Weiner's books here:

Bitter is the New Black : Confessions of a Condescending, Egomaniacal, Self-Centered Smartass,Or, Why You Should Never Carry A Prada Bag to the Unemployment Office by Jen Lancaster

and

The Sweet Potato Queens' First Big-Ass Novel: Stuff We Didn't Actually Do, But Could Have, And May Yet by Jill Conner Browne.

Because, really, I couldn't resist the titles and they were both really funny!!

I'm going to go against convention here. Instead of recommending something funny, I am going to recommend a book that totally blew away - Cindy Pon's debut Asian fantasy SILVER PHOENIX. It has been such a long time since a book got me hooked from the beginning right up to the end. It's got gorgeous prose, Asian demons, breathtaking adventure and romance. But don't take my word for it. Check out what other people are saying :

All five star reviews!!

Happy reading!

I love this idea! I recommend The Bromeliad by Terry Pratchett. My review is here. I found it very funny, meaningful, and impossible to put down.
