I really loved Dewey my review is here: http://sharonlovesbooksandcats.blogspot.com/2008/10/review-dewey-small-town-cat-who-touched.html
I'm still going with the Halloween theme for my suggestions. Have you ever read anything by Jonathan Rand? He is very popular with the 3-5 graders in the elementary school where I volunteer. He has a Michigan Chillers and American Chillers series along with several others including 1-3 graders, teens and adults.
The Bionic Bats of Bay City is actually set about 20 minutes away from my house. http://prostores2.carrierzone.com/servlet/chillers/-strse-165/%2314-Bionic-Bats-of/Detail
My recommendation this week is Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book.
My recommendation is The Handmaid's Tale, by Margaret Atwood. I read this book this week and loved it. It's an Orwellian tale of a society where women have little to no rights. It's scary in a psychological way, so it fits in with eerie fall reads. For more, see my review.
I loved Stone Creek by Victoria Lustbader! It's about two lonely people who meet and how they help each other fine happiness.
I would recommend Wednesday Sisters. I read it recently and I thought it gave me a lot to think about with social issues without being preachy. I also really enjoyed the stories of the relationships between the women in the story. I reviewed it here:

Okay, I know you like childrens books yet the one I am reading now is a new author for me so I'm going to introduce him to you.
"Envy the Night" by Michael Koryta.
Not a big book and a little slow at the start yet really roaring now! Good mystery wih a lot of twits and turns amongst the characters. Perhaps if not for you maybe for someone else you know!

I'd like to refere a book...
I just finished reading the book
"No Time For Goodbyes" written by Linwood Barclay. This was a really good book, in my opinion. It's a mystery of a girl, 14 years old whose family vanishes. 25 years later, she still has no clue what happens to them, when she starts getting "clues" to her past. I would recomend this book to anyone who likes mysteries.
The last book I reviewed was The Society of S and I would definitely recommend this book!!
