Refer A Book Friday

It's Friday! Yay I am finally posting early! Recommend your books. Tell me why you liked the book you picked or link your review. Not sure what to recommend I'll give you a hint on what I am in the mood for....well as it was said yesterday the seasons have changed and holiday is coming up. I could use something not to scary but thrilling enough it puts me in the mood for Halloween. That's just a suggestion ...I never really know what I am going to get recommended so I never know what I am going to pick. Don't forget to check out the Free Books (<---link here)you can pick from. Maybe there is something you would be interested in...

For a little bit of a "creepy" type story that is excellent, I recommend The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly. It is a beautiful written book with a touching story. And, there are some menacing characters, too.

Here's my review:

I avoid scary books, movies, and parts of life.

I would recommend Ill Wind by Rachel Caine. You can see my review here.

It's urban fantasy but not too creepy or scary, it has a good bit of humor in it, and no smut(that I can remember.)

I've read some great books for Carl's R.I.P. 3 Challenge. (The Devouring is great. Zombie Blondes is too.) The most recent book for that challenge which I've completed is The Mysteries of Udolpho by Ann Radcliffe. Other favorites in this category include Frankenstein and Dracula. Also Thirteenth Tale if you haven't gotten to it yet. It's wonderful :)

I recommend Coraline by Neil Gaiman, if you want something a bit creepy. Here's my review of the book: http://alessandrasplace.blogspot.com/2008/09/book-review-coraline.html

How about Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer? It's an amazing adventure series with a mix of fantasy such as fairies, centaurs, etc. I just love the series so much that I waited 3 years! for the next book to be released. It really is a fantastic book so even if don't win XD, definitely check it out!

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. A great thrill for an adventure seeker. It's very much similar to Harry Potter but not quite the same so if you love those kinds of books, read this series.

Great suggestions, everyone.

I remember thinking Coraline looked so good after reading Alessandra's review!

I'm not so much for the creepy scary type stuff myself, but if you're in the mood for a good disaster thriller, I can recommend Tsunami by Gordon Gumpertz. It's a real page-turner with lots of interesting sub plots, good villains, and suspense.

As far as spooky goes, I have been wanting to read 99 Coffins by David Wellington and The Shadow Killer by Matthew Scott Hansen.
