Refer A Book Friday

It's Friday! Yay! Time to post your recommendations. Don't forget to take a look at the list of free books that are available. There are already two posts for this week from Amy and Serena who posted a little early. I will repost their recommendations in the comments. Have fun. :-)

JFYI: I will be at a party after work Saturday so the winner for this will be announced late Saturday. Everyone will have until the winner is announced to recommend a book. (added 10:37pm)

Amy said :Hmmm, try The Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfield. My friends adore it but I think it's decent. Maybe you'll love it.

For this week, have you tried The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson? While the beginning of the novel was rather slow, it picked up the pace and was a fantastic book in the end. What I like about it is how the characters progressively developed even the minor characters. The author combined many cultures without a hitch and the many small stories added to the overall effect. Even though, it's about the same length as The Host, I managed to finish the book in less than a day! And look at the gorgeous cover!

So this week, I give you Bloom by Elizabeth Scott! It's an adorable YA book that's great for a sweet, quick read. The main character might be a little annoying in the beginning but I can't help end up loving her in the end. I absolutely love this book and am currently trying to persuade my friends to give an early birthday present XD.

My recommendation this week is, Billie Standish Was Here by Nancy Crocker. This one was one of my favorite books last year. And it was one of the Cybils finalists in the YA Category. It is a beautiful, powerful, wonderful book.

Great suggestions, everyone.

The best book I read this week was An Exact Replica of a Figment of My Imagination by Elizabeth McCracken. It's a short, heartfelt memoir - you can read the details in my review HERE.
