Shannon’s Thoughts:

In this second book in the series (no need to read in order) the reader is introduced to the country, France.  We learn a little about the French language and some of its big tourist sites, like the Eiffel Tower.

I enjoyed learning the small number of French words.  It’s a picture book and some authors overdo it by having too many hard or unknown words.  Author, Carole P. Roman, does not overdo it with her writing.

On the downside, I feel that having been to France, more landmarks and architecture could have been mentioned that kids would be interested in.  For instance Notre-Dame Cathedral, kids may recognize from Disney movie The Hunchback Of Notre Dame. I guess I wanted the book a little longer. The pages run a little on the low side for a picture book.  The typical is 32 pages where this was 28.

This is another wonderful addition to the If You Were Me And Lived In… series. So many places to learn from and so much information to share. Almost an endless supply of writing. I look forward to the next book.
